PRIVATE AVIATION–This category includes private customers who operate their own aircraft during the course of their businesses. Private aviation may be for personal transport or pleasure purposes. Aviation insurance is very different from other coverages, but insuring your aircraft may be easier in expert hands. If you are the owner of a light aircraft, helicopter or private jet, we provide insurance policies to cover your aircraft against damages that may arise during operations, cargo and passengers while being in the air or on the ground
Premiums for this type of aircraft are generally the most economical of all coverages available in the market. In comparison with other type of risks, these rates are extremely low, even when compared with automobile insurance. The value of an aircraft is the key factor that determines the premium; thus, an aircraft with a lower value will have a lower premium cost than one with a higher value. Insurance rates vary depending not only on the value and complexity of the equipment, but also the expertise of the Pilot in command. Thus, Pilots with appropriate expertise will have better rates and conditions accordingly.
Pilots with longer flight time usually upgrade to more advanced systems. Pilot’s expertise and aircraft complexity are key factors that determine the applicable premium for these types of risks. For obvious reasons, Insurers demand highly experienced Pilots for these airplanes, which usually have better rates and conditions than single engine aircraft. In the case of Pilots with little experience, insurance is generally more expensive, especially when aircraft systems involve higher complexity.
As this aircraft concept has been recently introduced in the market, Insurers have been working hand in hand with aircraft manufacturers and training centers in order to provide an appropriate insurance option for this type of operations. It is such a new technology that Insurers require special conditions, and the training of the Pilot in Command is a determining factor.
The operation of this type of aircraft is very limited within the territory of Latin America as there are fewer large lake areas as in other latitudes. However, we have provided services to a small number of operators of this type of aircraft in the South of the continent. Premiums and deductibles are usually higher than those aircraft of the same model operating in ground. In these cases, the Pilot’s proven expertise in take-offs and landings on aquatic areas is a must.
In risk terms, aircraft with a conventional landing gear represent an additional complication in comparison with those with tricycle landing gears due to the distribution of the load center of the equipment. In addition, this type of configuration is “scarce” in the market, which makes the crew’s training even more difficult. Operators of these types of equipment must provide evidence of their Pilots’ proven expertise and their training to operate this type of aircraft.
The insurance for this type of aircraft is very different from the coverage of a fixed wing aircraft. Insurance policies for light helicopters are usually more expensive than those for an aircraft, and it is determined by the extent of damages resulting from helicopter accident / incident.
CORPORATE AVIATION

CORPORATE AVIATION– Companies who use their private airplanes to transport small groups of individuals and goods in an effective, comfortable and safe way, from any origin and to any destination. This activity is performed by professional Pilots who are usually trained by Academies acknowledged by their own aircraft Manufacturers. Aircraft may be owned by the Company or, otherwise, may be operated on a timeshare basis, and they are not available to the general public. Given the particularity of this operation, there is clear evidence that these risks are the safest within the industry, thus, they are benefited with the widest coverage and the best risk rates.
There is a new generation of more complex and advanced equipment, whereby Insurers’ requirements are higher. In comparison with the former multi-engine aircraft, these airplanes represent a higher exposure and may be used for corporate purposes. We advise you to obtain the best insurance available in the market for your operation.
Flying turboprops might be easier and safer than flying a piston aircraft, however, we must take into account that this type of aircraft flies higher, faster and can transport more passengers. This versatility allows aircraft to perform different missions, so the insurance coverage must be adjusted to each scenario. We make our best efforts to locate the best insurance available in the market that best suits your operation.
These types of aircraft are ideal for corporate use, as long as destination flights are long range, as aircraft performance is usually better during long distances due to the advantages associated to operation costs. One of the main advantages of turbojets is the comfort provided for operators, as they are free from noise and vibrations. We may say that this is one of the safest risk within the industry, with the best risk rates.
The insurance of this type of aircraft is very different to fixed-wing aircraft insurances. Helicopter policies are usually more expensive than aircraft policies and the premium is determined by the extension of damages in case of accident / incident. As helicopters have wide cabins, a high loading capacity and are used to transport individuals and/or goods in short trips, there is a high exposure and, occasionally, the participation of several groups of Insurers is necessary to complete the support. COMMERCIAL AVIATION - Includes a wide range of activities. Training centers, agricultural aviation, freight transport and charter flights are some examples of the business aviation industry. Each operation requires certain expertise to adjust the insurance coverage to the customer’s operation conditions.
Contrary to regular flight services, charter operators have neither itinerary nor fixed destination, and this is part of the risks that Insurers must assume to determine the applicable premium. With that in mind, it is reasonable to demand premiums higher than in any other type of activities. So, data such as destinations and usual frequencies, as well as aircraft average occupancy are essential to guarantee the best prices. All this information based on the average obtained from the previous year (the last 12 months of operation).
Despite aircraft used for these tasks are similar to the ones for private use, Insurers usually require much higher premiums for aircraft used for training purposes (initial "ab-initio" and/o “recurrent" advanced). The main reason of this is the little experience of the crew to be trained, which constitutes an additional risk that must be assumed by Reinsurers. The high accident rate of this type of operations is taken with caution by markets and currently, it implies the highest costs within the insurance sector. Its purpose is to provide “financial protection for Pilots who may lose their licenses due to medical reasons and/or accidents”. This coverage includes cases such as when a Pilot is temporarily unable to earn income due to the suspension of his/her license; otherwise, it provides funds in case a Pilot needs to resort to an alternative career due to the suspension or loss of his/her license. We have access to relevant specialized markets in this area. Each applicant must complete a form. This coverage is especially available for Commercial Pilots.

We participate actively in the claim management, guiding you about the documentation that you need to gather in pursuit of an effective payment. Please bear in mind:
• You must notify the occurrence of any claim-causing event within the first 72 hours following the incident.
• You must provide claim details such as: date, time, place, name of the Pilot in Command with copy of his/her license (if applicable), event details, airworthiness certificates and registration number of damaged aircraft.
• Wait for the appointment of Loss Adjusters.
• You will receive the Insurers’ agreement for the removal of the damaged aircraft from the place of the accident.
• Do not dismantle or repair aircraft without the previous Insurers’ consent.
• If the claim is the consequence of a criminal act, notify immediately the competent authorities.
• Confirm whether you are up to date with the payment of the Premium.

This coverage establishes the Insurer’s obligation to repair or, otherwise, replace the losses and/or direct physical damages suffered by the Insured Aircraft, provided that such damages are the result of an external accidental cause. Additionally, it provides protection in case of disappearance of such Aircraft, including robbery or theft, if aircraft is not located after the beginning of its last flight.
This clause covers aircraft against risks arisen from acts of war, invasion, foreign enemy, hostilities, strikes, riots, civil commotion, malicious damages, confiscation of a country different from the one of aircraft registration, nationalization, hijack and sabotage. There is an extension both for hull and liability covers, whereby an additional premium payment is usually required.
Coverage against loss and/or damages to aircraft parts and accesories under the Insured’s care, custody and control, whether on the ground or in transit, as cargo on board in any means of transport. Accessories and parts may be owned by the Insured, or may be under Third Parties’ control. An additional premium is usually required according to the declared amount, as well as a list of all the accessories and parts to be included in the coverage, and its location.
Coverage against Insured’s liabilities resulting from Third Parties’ death or impairment of health, or deterioration or destruction of property owned by Third Parties, caused directly by the insured aircraft.
This coverage is not only limited to the damages that may arise from aircraft impact, but also the individuals or objects falling from aircraft.
This is an aircraft liability additional coverage that covers Insured against damages to passengers who have suffered injuries while being on board, or while boarding or unboarding the insured aircraft. Unlike the traditional civil liability coverages, this additional coverage provides a specified payment to injured passengers, who, it its turn, they must relinquish to institute a judicial action.
Coverage against death and permanent disability of crew members and passengers while boarding, unboarding or being on board the insured aircraft, as long as there is an intention to make a flight. Payment shall apply according to the limit established by position, prior to civil liability coverage, notwithstanding who is occupying the position in aircraft.
It is an additional coverage against Personal Accidents, which has the purpose of reimbursing medical expenses incurred by injured individuals on board the insured aircraft as a result of a claim covered by the Policy. Generally, it is a sublimit of the main coverage, and there is also an extension available through the liability coverage.
Liability coverage available for Airport Owners, Hangars, Workshops, Air Traffic Control, Operators, Suppliers, Facilities and/or Aeronautical Products. More specifically, this liability insurance covers everything that is under the Customer’s care, custody and control, despite not being the owner. This coverage has three well defined sections:
Section 1: It covers damages to property within or near the Insured’s location, as a direct result of the services rendered by the Insured, caused by the Insured’s fault, negligence or flaw in the locations and equipment used in the Insured’s business.
Section 2: It covers aircraft damages while being on the ground or while being handled or kept by the Insured.
Section 3: It establishes the conditions under which coverage is provided in case of damages caused to products manufactured, repaired or kept by the Insured, after such goods are no longer under the Insured’s control.
Under an Excess of Loss scheme, cover is provided to reduce the Insured’s deductible, in consideration of the payment of an additional premium and an annual aggregate limit. This insurance requires reinstatement in case of assets affectation.
Confiscation is additional to War cover, and must be requested by the Insured if Confiscation of the country of aircraft registration is required, as long as War Hull insurance is issued.
This cover provides financial protection for those Pilots who may lose their licenses due to medical reasons and/or accidents. While Pilot is temporarily unable to earn income due to license suspension, the Pilot is provided with financial aid in case he/she needs to resort to an alternative career. Applicant must fill in a form with Pilot’s psychological and physical conditions.
